The Mystery of Pickles by Daniel Klawitter

I always thought that pickles

Grew on a pickle tree.

But any cucumber will tell you:

“The pickle comes from me!”

How can they taste so different

And yet still be the same?!

The secret is in the vinegar,

And fermentation is to blame!

The cucumber takes a bath

In a salty, acidic brine.

It stays in there for 7 days

And comes out tasting fine.

Cucumbers when left untreated,

Are something I abhor.

But when they turn to pickles,

They are better than before.
